Re-Cover is a decorating project within South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust (SLaM) enabling service users to regain their confidence as they carry out paid part time work. Community organisations are able to benefit from our offer, which is professional decorating at a highly competitive rate, whilst contributing to the wider community.
This project is by and large self-funding. There are currently 6 decorators and two administrators all working part time, generally 10 hours a week. The project manager is an Occupational Therapist, who also supports participants with social inclusion and life issues including moving on to open employment. The decorators have the opportunity to take on managerial and leadership roles. The experienced workers mentor new recruits and skill sharing is a vital part of their learning.
